A BRIEF BIO ABOUT WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU DO.
I’m an illustrator and designer, originally from Philadelphia and have resided in Missoula for a decade now. I work as a full time gift product designer but also freelance and sell my work at craft fairs. I love sharing my art with people and believe that it should be affordable to decorate your home with beautiful objects.
DESCRIBE YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS... HOW DO YOU WORK AND MAKE THE GREAT THINGS YOU MAKE?
I always begin my work with a rough sketch, then draw in pencil, pen, marker and then finish it off with acrylic paint. I like to work on watercolor paper then scan the final paintings to make digital reproductions.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I studied illustration at the University of the Arts where I graduated from in 2009. I originally just did freelance work but am lucky enough to work as a full time designer now!
WHERE DO YOU DRAW YOUR INSPIRATION FROM?
I love being in nature, whether it’s hiking, rafting, or just sitting and taking it all in. I draw inspiration from everyday objects around me, movies, books and especially gardening.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF AS AN ARTIST AND BUSINESS PERSON?
That I can make a living off of my craft that I am passionate about!
DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS OR SUGGESTIONS FOR YOUR FELLOW ARTISANS AND MAKERS?
Keep at it and don’t get discouraged if your creative path takes longer or goes in a different direction from what you originally planned. Allow yourself to take breaks from your craft to avoid burnout, you are your harshest critic!
