The Missoula MADE fair started in December 2007 after two lovely ladies saw a need for a more alternative arts & crafts market in Missoula, MT. Angie Oakins (Elements Jewelry) and Carol Lynn Lapotka (REcreate designs), the original founders, began planning and advertising the first ever MADE fair that was held in the Loft above the Higgins Alley Restaurant with only 18 artists. It was well received and the future of the MADE fair’s growth was in sight. We have since added a summer show with over 100 artists and the holiday show is now over 200 amazing and talented local & regional artists.
The current planning team of all this amazingness is Carol Lynn Lapotka (REcreate designs), Courtney Blazon Illustrations, and Sara Kauk (Design Missoula). We are always trying to improve upon what we have already accomplished and continue to grow in new directions as well.
This MADE fair is a competitive juried show, so keep this in mind when filling out your application. We are currently accepting applications for the Helena & Missoula Holiday MADE fairs for both artists and non-profits. The MADE fair jury will be looking for unique products that fit the feel of the MADE fair (funky, fun, functional) as well as variety and quality of work. The MADE fair’s mission is to increase awareness of handmade goods as an alternative to mass-produced items and support local and regional small craft business by providing a place to sell their goods.
