      HOW IT ALL GOT STARTED

      The Missoula MADE fair started in December 2007 after two lovely ladies saw a need for a more alternative arts & crafts market in Missoula, MT. Angie Oakins (Elements Jewelry) and Carol Lynn Lapotka (REcreate designs), the original founders, began planning and advertising the first ever MADE fair that was held in the Loft above the Higgins Alley Restaurant with only 18 artists. It was well received and the future of the MADE fair’s growth was in sight. We have since added a summer show with over 100 artists and the holiday show is now over 200 amazing and talented local & regional artists.

      The current planning team of all this amazingness is Carol Lynn Lapotka (REcreate designs) and Courtney Blazon Illustrations, We are always trying to improve upon what we have already accomplished and continue to grow in new directions as well.

      Our first holiday show in 2007 was small and located on the second floor of a downtown restaurant with only 18 artists. Oh how we have grown! Year after year, we strive to improve what we began so many years ago. With the move in location to the Adams Center in 2013, we were able to showcase more artists and also add non-profit booths to the event. We wanted to provide opportunities for community organizations to spread their message to our enthusiastic customers. 

      In 2017  we are added a NEW show for the holidays in Helena at the Lewis & Clark Fairgrounds and in 2018 a show in Bozeman at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.

      BE a MADE Fair Artist

      This MADE fair is a competitive juried show, so keep this in mind when filling out your application. We are currently accepting applications for the Summer MADE fair for artists, non-profits,and food vendors. 

      The MADE fair jury will be looking for unique products that fit the feel of the MADE fair (funky, fun, functional) as well as variety and quality of work. The MADE fair’s mission is to increase awareness of handmade goods as an alternative to mass-produced items and support local and regional small craft business by providing a place to sell their goods. Find out more about the application process and booth fees by checking out the how to apply page.

      Our summer show began with only 50 artists in 2009 and has since grown to aver 100 artists and 10 non-profits being showcased at Caras Park in beautiful downtown Missoula, MT. The juried show is well attended by locals, tourists, and an occassional celebrity as well. The curated collection of artists range from the hobbyist to the seasoned professional. We invite local non-profits to have booths at all of our events as a way to connect with the people they help and support their efforts.  

      Every year we hope to bring you a diverse group of artists that represent the best Montana and surrounding state have to offer.  It is always quite exciting to see new talent emerge and check back with your favorite booths and connect directly with the artists.
