 Mouse Blankets

The Mouse Blankets by Standing Rattle are a charming representation of both art and tradition. Handcrafted with care, these miniature "blankets" are made using tiny glass beads intricately woven together to create vibrant patterns inspired by the rich heritage of indigenous designs. Each piece is a small, colorful tapestry, reflecting a deep respect for cultural roots and a playful nod to the idea of keeping the smallest creatures warm.

  • Geo Pattern Square Stitched Delica Beads
  • 2.5" length

Standing Rattle is wearable art utilizing natural materials made with modern people in mind. Each piece is an homage to the designer's indigenous roots through rediscovered traditional techniques. Most Standing Rattle pieces use copper because of a love for Intaglio printmaking and the way copper patina changes over time. Other materials featured are beads, porcupine quills, antlers, mirrors, and leather.

The artist, Danette Standing, is an enrolled member of the Fort Peck tribe, which is home to the Assiniboine and Sioux tribes in northeastern Montana. She lived on the reservation for about 20 years before moving to different parts of Montana and calling Livingston home. She hopes to return to her reservation one day to keep the family homestead alive.
