With an enduring fascination for western mountain culture and creatures, Maren Stubenvoll’s (Stube Creative) work explores what it means to be a “western artist.” Based in Bozeman, Montana, she draws inspiration from time spent on dirt roads and in the alpine, capturing the beauty, whimsy, and playfulness of these places and those who call them home.

Her subjects, creatures and cowgirls of the West, are often set against bold, graphic patterns that contrast the rugged natural world with vibrant inner lives. Through them, she moves away from traditional themes of violence and conquest, instead celebrating joy, strength, curiosity, and adventure.
