Hollace McPhillips

Hollace McPhillips has been a professional artist for 35 years and has exhibited everything from fine calligraphy to mosaics and also raku pottery but has spent the past 7 years enjoying the eco-dyeing process in which she creates one-of-a-kind silk scarves, bandannas and pocket squares using various leaves such as oak, maple, eucalyptus and rose leaves, fern, moss, Australian pine needles and many different flowers that she gathers.
Then through a process using alum (a pickling spice), white vinegar, rust water and steam the various flora & fauna release their colors and image onto the silk. No two scarves are ever alike, as in nature, no two leaves are ever alike--making each piece unique.
Each piece is signed with a "heart" to show it was lovingly made.
