Handcrafted by indigenous artist Danette Standing, they feature authentic porcupine quills meticulously cleaned and shaped to create elegant, elongated forms. The quills are often paired with delicate beads and other natural elements, showcasing the beauty of simplicity and nature’s raw materials.

These earrings honor the indigenous practice of using porcupine quills in adornment, a technique passed down through generations. Lightweight and striking in design, they are perfect for those who appreciate unique, meaningful jewelry that connects to cultural heritage. The Porcupine Quill earrings are more than just accessories—they are a wearable piece of art, carrying the spirit of traditional craftsmanship into a modern context. It is ideal for those seeking to add a touch of earthy elegance and cultural significance to their collection.

  • Porcupine Quill
  • Seed Bead and Copper
  • 3" length

Standing Rattle is wearable art utilizing natural materials made with modern people in mind. Each piece is an homage to the designer's indigenous roots through rediscovered traditional techniques. Most Standing Rattle pieces use copper because of a love for Intaglio printmaking and how copper patina changes over time. Other materials featured are beads, porcupine quills, antlers, mirrors, and leather.

The artist, Danette Standing, is an enrolled member of the Fort Peck tribe, home to the Assiniboine and Sioux tribes in northeastern Montana. She lived on the reservation for about 20 years before moving to different parts of Montana and calling Livingston home. She hopes to return to her reservation one day to keep the family homestead alive.
