Sils Ceramics

Kirsten Schiel is a Salt Lake City based artist who works in ceramics using a mix of thrown and hand-built techniques resulting in both pottery and sculptural products. Her creative process is an exploration of connection. She is fascinated by the way clay can act as a conduit between the earth, the artist, and their community. The tactile nature of clay is so personal and that energy is felt between humans while they interact with the pieces. Her work is largely inspired by nature, landscapes, and heritage, with the desire to create works that are simple and playful. She believes in the cozy vibrance of handmade goods, and the extra life they can bring to a person's space.
