Maria Murders was born and raised in Bozeman and is a 5th generation Montanan. Though she was interested in art as a child, it wasn’t until February 2022 that her love of art was rekindled, and she was inspired to start painting the local Ennis landscapes surrounding her home. She works mainly in soft pastels, and her paintings feature a colorful and impressionistic style. Though landscapes are her focus, she also enjoys painting animals and old-world still lifes (especially in the long, cold winters!) She lives in Ennis with her husband, Siberian husky, and two cats.
