Just My Type

Donna Erickson at Just My Type creates unique handmade journals crafted from upcycled materials -- wooden paneling, old books, leather, cowboy boots, game boards, and vintage papers. The books are used not only as journals, but as sketchbooks, planners, travel journals and notebooks. Each cover features an original inked image and/or phrase; some feature unique metal findings or other vintage embellishments. These refillable books, offered in four sizes, hold Moleskine-sized soft-cover inserts that can be easily replaced. Each book includes at least two inserts plus handmade pockets and file inserts to capture loose papers. Donna learned bookbinding at Hollanders in Ann Arbor, Michigan twenty years ago and has since crafted hundreds of unique books. Growing up on a ranch near Missoula, Donna has always loved working with her hands. She’s a maker, fixer-upper and re-user. The rural background fostered a sensitivity to aged, worn materials.
