Standing Rattle

Standing Rattle is wearable art utilizing natural materials made with modern people in mind. Each Standing Rattle piece is an homage to the designer's indigenous roots through rediscovered traditional techniques. Most Standing Rattle pieces use copper because of a love for Intaglio printmaking and the way copper patina changes over time. Other materials featured are: beads, porcupine quills, antler, mirrors, and leather.

The artist, Danette Standing, is an enrolled member of the Fort Peck tribes which is home to the Assiniboine and Sioux tribes located in northeastern Montana. She lived on the reservation for about 20 years before moving to different parts of Montana before calling Livingston home. She hopes to return to her reservation one day to keep the family homestead alive.
